Responsibilities

Zookeep is seeking an experienced Backend/Full Stack Engineer to accelerate the development of our Applicant Tracking System (ATS). This role will design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems that power hiring workflows, integrations, and recruiter-facing experiences. Within the first year, the engineer will deliver core ATS modules, ensure robust database and API performance, and uphold security and compliance standards. Success will be measured by the ability to deliver production-ready features that scale with customer growth, integrate seamlessly with partner systems, and improve recruiter efficiency. Outstanding candidates will also bring frontend expertise to build features end to end. The engineer will collaborate closely with product managers, Quality Assurance, DevOps, and the broader development team to ensure a stable, high-performing ATS platform.

Requirements

Critical Subtasks

• Drop into a complex codebase, quickly gain context, and begin making meaningful improvements within the first weeks.

• Independently build and maintain complete features for Zookeep’s ATS, owning the process from design through deployment.

• Write comprehensive unit, integration, and load tests to ensure system reliability and minimize production incidents.

• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers, raising the quality of engineering practices across the team.

• Stay current with modern backend and full stack frameworks, continuously strengthening Zookeep’s ATS infrastructure and scalability.
