Zookeep is seeking an experienced Backend / Full Stack Engineer to accelerate the development of our Applicant Tracking System (ATS). You will design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems that power critical hiring workflows, partner integrations, and recruiter-facing experiences. Within the first year, you will deliver core ATS modules, ensure robust database and API performance, and uphold security and compliance standards.

Outstanding candidates will also bring frontend expertise to deliver features end-to-end. You’ll work closely with product managers, QA, DevOps, and the broader development team to ensure a stable, high-performing ATS platform that scales with customer growth.

• Design, build, and maintain backend services that support ATS workflows, partner integrations, and customer-facing features.

• Own features end-to-end, from design through deployment, collaborating cross-functionally with product and design teams.

• Write and maintain comprehensive unit, integration, and load tests to ensure reliability and reduce production incidents.

• Participate in code reviews, contributing to high-quality engineering standards and mentoring junior developers.

• Continuously evaluate and adopt modern backend and full stack frameworks to strengthen system scalability and performance.

  
  

Requirements

• 7+ years of Backend Experience as a Backend or Full Stack Engineer, ideally in a SaaS or B2B product environment.

• Strong proficiency in modern backend frameworks and languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, or similar).

• Deep expertise in backend system design, APIs, and distributed systems.

• Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Vue, etc.) is highly desirable.

• Proven ability to drop into complex codebases and contribute meaningful improvements quickly.

• Strong familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD pipelines, observability, and security best practices.

• Experience designing and scaling distributed systems, databases, and APIs for performance and reliability.

• Demonstrable experience mentoring engineers, leading technical discussions, and driving consensus on architectural decisions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
